"Ah" npc dialogue

I'm playing the game in french, i don't know if it’s related. But most of npc start their conversation always with the same word : “Ah”, like “Ah, traveler, how are you?” Or “Ah, you talking about the castle?” Or “Ah, of course I know the way, follow me.” Ah is like an expression to show a little surprise or something in french
