Just noticed when I was creating a custom magic item that while there is a place to add a damage bonus, there is not an option to add a “to-hit” modifier. I don’t know how difficult this would be, but I imagine there are a ton of magic items in the official SRD alone that aren’t being represented accurately without a “to-hit” bonus being included in the attack roll calculation. And think of the missed opportunities for cursed items (-(x) to-hit).
Example: A level 5 Fighter with a Strength of 18 (+4 modifier) and proficiency in longswords would have a +7 to hit (+4 Strength modifier, +3 proficiency bonus), assuming no other bonuses. If they also had a +1 longsword, their total to-hit bonus would be +8.
