More strategic battles / grid maps

More of a long-term goal: It would be awesome if there was a way to adapt the combat system to allow for grid-based combat, i.e., you can only move a certain number of squares per turn instead of running in straight lines. Personally, I wouldn't mind whether it was square or hexagonal. This would require the maps for the POIs to be divided into grids and for all fields to be defined as to which fields are normally passable, which fields are difficult terrain, which fields are impassable, and where, for example, there are traps or similar obstacles. It would also be good if you could define the entrance and exit of the maps. It would probably somewhat complicated because every NPC had to be able to find their way around. However, it would make the battles much more strategic and exciting.
