The Gameplay as it Stands Right Now is Static UNLESS the Player forces new content/context into a Scene.

  1. Copied from Discord. But TLDR. The world is Static. Unless The player tells/engages with Npcs, items, or places. Franz will create NOTHING new on his own out of the blue it feels like and I have tested this Per the campaign give to you here in this feedback.

Is the campaign used in the video clip. Basically did 75 messages without giving Franz new data or telling him what I wanted to happen. Just my character Walking thru a settlement/town and 75 message he has zero new/rng events and nothing occurred. To me this means unless I PROMPT him to have something happening or I engage with npcs directly. They might as well not exist.

I'm going to try to keep this as short as I can. Esp since I'm going to toss this into the feedback portal also. But I feel I have to give feedback on this. I know a ton of dev time was put into the quest system and rightly so. I don't want to come off as attacking the update yesterday. It is a big improvement in a lot of ways. No issues with on my end with the intended goal it was to accomplish on that end. The issues I have are the same ones I mentioned early last month and the month before. As I personally feel there is a larger core issue with how the game/system as it is. And that is simply the world doesn't exist or do anything unless I force it to happen, thru my own input/messages. I may be in the minority in this. As I don't see many complaining about it but myself with any regularity. If so that is fair. It could be the system as it is just isn't for me anymore. But to me, if I wanted to directly control every single aspect and what happens, doesn't, or if someone randomly comes up to talk to my character or not. I would just go write a book instead of trying to play a dnd style game. At this point, if it wasn't for me paying for the year when the option first came out, May 9th the same day as the Ace update. I would simply cancel my monthy sub and leave for a bit to check in down the line to see if things got any better months down the line. Which the irony is, I paid the year because up til the Ace Update I have honestly loved the system/gameplay. Yes, there always has been pain points. Some gotten better others the same, but others worst in my opinion over time. But it was 100% worth supporting the Devs, at the moment I paid for the year since I was able to enjoy and work past the bulk of the bugs/issues since I was 4k+ message deep into my primary campaign. Now what is the core issue for me? As I mentioned briefly. Nothing happens in the world unless I force it thru my own/characters actions. I'm not talking about things happening behind the scenes or elsewhere in the world. I'm not expecting that. But nothing in the current scene happens unless I FORCE Franz by what I type or write to make happen. If I walk down the street of a town. He will just tell me descriptions of buildings, sounds, smells. But NOTHING happens unless I tell him I run into X or I enter Y building. Or I'm searching for somewhere that looks like they sell X. I can walk forever and he will add nothing unprompted or random into the situation anymore. Used to be if I was walking down a street in a town, even with no named/in world npcs around, he would create character I would see or run into along the way. Yes this caused a lot of the troupes we had. Hooded figures, man with burned arms, or 'room service' that barges into your inn room AGAIN even after killing the past seven humans who did the same moments ago one by one, etc. But it ALSO allowed him to sometimes have a random oddball event that you passed that made the world feel living or alive to me at least as well. At least things were happening around my character I did not directly input into my messages to occur. Now last month when I brought this up. I did have a lot of good conversations that it may just be my CI's affecting the dialog. But having done about 350 messages in a new world with ONLY 1 CI adding my day/time tracking. I can say there has been zero improvement for me from Franz narrative. in terms of this core issue for me. Unless I force the story to press forward nothing new changed. Nothing new was added. The amount of times I've had to get him to rewrite his own messages because he keeps looping the same paragraphs and data at me is vastly annoying. I'm sorry but NO random NPC I don't want you to tell me your three deep closely held secrets for the eight time in 20 messages. Because your clearly following the memories and conversation system your incapable of creating unique/new dialog on your own without me giving you hints to work with. (edited)

  2. This message already is way to long. And I seem incapable of writing less Sorry. Around the 350 message marker I got a idea to test something. I'm going to have my character just walk. I'm not going to feed Franz new information in my own inputs/messages. The thought I had was MAYBE. The problem is I tend to write long messages/inputs. If I gave him little to work with maybe he would create more/new information on his own. So I tried that. Now at 425ish or so messages. I can say 100% certainly. There is Nothing Franz can do, at least in my world/campaign, he can do outside of giving descriptions of buildings, smells, and the feel of the cold air since it was night time. Close to 75 messages I went thru and all I got was the above descriptions. I never ran into anything new. No rng or random factor. No misc rogues in the dark even when I was walking thru back alleys because, in my mind, I never prompted Franz I wanted to run into rogues in the alleys. So then I thought. Well maybe he will work better if I go into a POI with a lot of NPCS in it. So I walks my character into the Keeps Council Chamber with 14 Npcs all fleshed out descriptions, backstories, etc. So not just quick random generated ones. And I had my character walk in a circle around the center desk in the room. What did 14 npcs do with their, friend/leader walking in the room saying nothing? They did nothing but stare at my character. Just watched as my character walked in circles. Saying nothing. Doing nothing new. Just constant descriptions of the same three npcs, chosen at whim it seems, and how their eyes followed my character but they always did nothing. So I thought ok. Maybe they just think my character is deep in thought. So I had them turn....and walk into the stone wall. Looking confused they then walked into the wall again. Over and over I did this. For like 25 messages. Before I turned to walk into the tables and later into a burning brazier all while stating my character was looking confused. Did any of these 14 characters in the room, one of them is literally named Compassion and that kind of his thing to show Compassion to others, react or say anything? Nope, they just watched for 4-5 in world hours as their leader walked into wells, tables, and lastly into fire. Not a word. At the end when I FINALLY imputed new information asking why they just watched? All I got from them was "Your movements were… erratic. Uncharacteristic. We observed, as is our duty. There was no indication of distress, merely a lack of purpose in your perambulations." At this point, It just feels like to me in the effort to get rid of the, yes often annoying RNG/random events that made no sense Franz would toss at us constantly every five or so messages before the Ace update. In fixing THAT issue we have just ended up with a system/Franz who is incapable of creating anything on his world that isn't carefully curator world builder/player inputted details that I'm no forced to include if I want someone or something to enter the scene to shake things up. Frankly, I miss the days where the town I was in randomly get attack by Dragons or my character gets a random gift from a close NPC for no other reason then Franz spin it up in his head to give me unprompted. The playability of the game has dropped hard off a cliff for me personally. Again and maybe this system just isn't for me anymore and I'm alone on this hill of actually had enjoyed the more RNG elements Franz came up with before. Oh and I should add as a final note but a less driving reason why I wrote this rant of mine. Going from having full control of the memory/context to zero control still feels horrible to me. It's playable just from a memory point of view but the amount of times I reset a message and give long winded info dumps just to help guide Franz is often and annoying when I used to be able to simple lock 10 memories. Although I do understand why the change was made.
