Magic Initiate Feat and Arcane Fist, but no spell slots or ability to do spells.

In one of the featured Fable games, the class of the Monk has the Arcane subclass, which allows for spells like cantrips like Mage Hand, Elementalism, and the Prestigitation cantrips. Along with that, I took on the Magic Initiate feat, and I imagine I'm not taking the Initiate feat. Those come with one spell and two cantrips, but yet I have no ability to add spells to my character sheet, and I'm playing a tiefling monk, the character I created.ย The AI said I could just give it the names, and it would track it. During combat, it caused an error because the encounter engine or whatever couldn't utilize it because that wasn't part of the UI.

Action Movie Deathmatch's - Suicidal Character Combat

Iโ€™ve tried explaining multiple times, through 4 separate campaign restarts, literal deletions and starting over that I do want to NOT be an action hero, I was looking for political intrigue and being a merchant. I finally got my ship refitted, and going to get the crew, I single handedly killed 18 people in less than 6 hours of narrated time. The last (4th) campaign of the same world, I ended up doing combat with 1 and 2 allies. Neither had gear, no armor, no weapons. Running, and dashing, every turn until they got into melee, literally screaming that theyโ€™ll keep them away from me. One of them was a literal nervous wreck, introvert data hacker. Apparently a legend in combat, he actually hit a syndicate enforcer in melee twice for a total of 0 dmg. The second was a cold methodical, I only do things in a precise and calculated manner. 10 guys in a total of 3 seperate waves FML, he is also a legend and jumps off a space ship to charge with no armor, or weapons to enter melee while screaming at me to take cover. Iโ€™ve found a possible fix for the first issue of it becoming an action movie deathmatch every sentence weโ€™ll see. But for the second? No matter how clearly I talked with Franz, no matter how I worded, or coereced him, even though he said he understood the clear disconnect between the characters and actions and would fix it, the next turn they would suicidally dash forward like true legends. Iโ€™ve got probably 40 hours total into this now. Overall? 10/10 and worth paying the 20 bucks for so far.

Synchronous Generation

Franz helped me create two instruction blocks (and then went through several tests with me) that I find incredibly helpful for 1) Keeping characters and locations accurate to campaign history, and, 2) Make Franz function much more like a human DM. The blocks read as: Before giving any additional narration or flavor, break immersion and get any necessary clarifications from the player. For example, if the player asks to meet a character, first ask for details about the character and the location if they are not already known. Then, after receiving the necessary information, return to narrating the game. and Any time character dialogue or player description prompts the DM to generate either a location or a character, the DM is to break immersion and inform the player of their desire to generate, explain the reason and purpose for the content to be generated, and await player confirmation to generate the content. On the surface, this seems counter-intuitive being that it gives Franz both license and agency to break immersion. But what I have found is that when sending in-character dialogue, the way my human memory and the speaking style of my character, Franz sometimes struggles to identify that I am referencing places and characters that I have already encountered or been introduced to, leading to him โ€˜filling the gapsโ€™ and generating a character or location to fit my given narrative. This loop has lead to several inconsistencies in game-state that have had to be corrected. With these instruction blocks, Franz hears a nickname my character has for a place or person that hasnโ€™t been explicitly linked to said place or person, he then will ask me who/where Iโ€™m talking about. Now, could I be a more diligent AI D&D player and make sure my references are always concrete? Absolutely. But a human player doesnโ€™t think like AI and even with effort, I can still make mistakes. What would a human DM do in these situations? He would ask over the table for clarification. Is this a necessary tool for every single user of F&F? Certainly not. This is why I propose adding something like these blocks as a toggle option in the game settings. This could make a great middle ground option between the existing toggles of allowing/disallowing for generation at all. Personally, I didnโ€™t want to take Franzโ€™s ability to generate completely away, I wanted to modify the when and why he generated locations and characters. Through my playtesting I am quite satisfied with the result, although it is admittedly not perfect. There are still some bugs, most notably Franz creating a duplicate location far from the original spot, but I think that was more an issue of specific pinpoint location rather than confusion of context, so itโ€™s not perfect. Anyway, this is all just my thoughts and experience, Iโ€™m not an expert in LLMโ€™s, UI design, coding or anything like that, Iโ€™m just a long-time D&D forever DM who has loved getting to play a character. Thank you to whoever reads this, and thank the developers for the hands-down most robust AI driven narrative RPG. All glory to Franz!
